What is AI Overview?
An AI Overview is a generative feature in Google Search that can synthesize an answer and link to supporting web pages. Google says these features are grounded in its core Search systems and use the same foundational SEO requirements as ordinary Search.
A page must be indexed and eligible to appear with a snippet to be considered as a supporting link. Google says no special AI schema, text file, or other technical optimization is required. Google-Extended controls certain Gemini training and grounding uses; it does not affect inclusion or ranking in Google Search, including AI Overviews.
Helpful, reliable content, crawlable links, accurate visible-page structured data, and normal Search eligibility remain the durable work. CiteFuel can inventory some prerequisites and measure sampled presence, but it cannot determine AI Overview selection.
